2014 International Conference on NdFeB Magnets was held in Ningbo, China on March 2-5, 2014,
NdFeB magnets were invented independently in 1982 (click for details) by Dr. Masato Sagawa of Sumitomo as sintered NdFeB, and by Dr. John Croat of GM as melt-spun NdFeB.
Today the NdFeB magnets are essential components in modern technologies, used in numerous electric / electronic devices from computers and appliances, to medical equipment. In recent years the emergent applications in renewable energy have entered the landscape, including the large-scale applications in hybrid /electrical vehicles and wind turbines.
NdFeB-magnets-related R&D and industry in China have developed tremendously in the last three decades, and now provide >85% of the demand in the world. According to our incomplete data, in China there are about 20 research institutions involved in the NdFeB R&D, and about 200 companies in the NdFeB supply chain.
This conference will provide a forum for exchanging the information of challenges and prospects in rare earth supply chain, the NdFeB industry, and the PM motors/ PM generators in China and in the world.
